At times when quartz movements were threatening to change the watch industry forever, Audemars Piguet carried on with what they have always been doing best: creating extraordinary mechanical watches. They combined a perpetual calendar with an automatic movement and launched the reference 5548 in 1978. The watch was very successful remained in production until circa 1991.
The current watch ticks all the boxes for any serious collector: it comes directly from the first owner, remains in very good condition, is equipped with a rare and extremely sought after blue 'Tuscan' dial and is - last but not least - bearing the number 1, indicating that it is the first of these 32 platinum models. It comes with a digital extract from the archives of Audemars Piguet, a setting pin and a presentation case with outer packaging.
