Francois Paul Journe has always been fascinated by tackling intricate challenges in the realm of watchmaking, and one of his most renowned accomplishments was harnessing the resonance phenomena to enhance timekeeping accuracy. However, one of his lesser-known achievements was the development of the world's first automatic movement to surpass the impressive 120-hour power reserve mark. This groundbreaking feat was accomplished with the caliber 1300, which found its place within the Octa Réserve de Marche, marking Journe's inaugural foray into the realm of automatic wristwatches.
The watch at hand showcases a highly sought-after rhodium-plated brass movement that ceased production in 2004 when Journe transitioned to using solid rose gold for his movements. Brass movements are exceptionally rare across all Journe models, making them a true rarity and highly desired by connoisseurs who appreciate the historical significance of Journe's early timepieces. Additionally, this particular Octa model boasts a diameter of 38 mm, a size that has been discontinued by Journe, who currently focuses on manufacturing watches in 40 and 42 mm sizes.
