Cartier has always been lauded for its new and iconic designs. Among those innovations, the story of the Baignoire - french for bathtub, began in the 1950s when the brand decided to give a wristwatch this unusual oval shape. In the 1960s, in the London workshops, the shape of the watch was stretched even further to create the Allongée. The present example is a rare treasure from the early 1990s.
