Daniel Roth

Daniel Roth established his name by producing highly intricate watches with complications that enhance the display and performance of experimental case shapes and dial designs. This is exemplified by the present Double-Face Tourbillon wristwatch, which uses a one-minute tourbillon regulator, displayed through a double dial. The pink gold case is double-ellipse shaped, outlined with solid edges and curves. 

Three separate blue hands of varying lengths function as a seconds counter, gliding across three different seconds registers, each measuring a twenty second period. The shortest hand begins covering the lowest register, while the longest hand counts the last twenty seconds by gliding across the highest register. The reverse dial features a calendar sub-dial with a power reserve indicator. Overall, the watch incorporates a silver pattern which contrasts with the white outlines of its sub-dials, drawing more attention to the complications on both sides of the timepiece that establish the reputation of Daniel Roth as an esteemed watchmaker. 

The present example represents the earlier days of the watchmaker and is preserved with its box and certificate.
