The iconic Patek Philippe reference 1518 was launched in 1941 and was the first perpetual calendar chronograph to be manufactured in a series. The reference was in production for 12 years and was equipped with a 13-130 Q, a Valjoux ébauche finish to the highest standards by Patek Philippe. On average, 20 pieces were made each year, in yellow gold, pink gold and stainless steel.
The present example is extremely well preserved and was manufactured in 1950. This watch represents the last generation of 1518s and was sold at the time when the first 2499s were available. The case retains very thick and well proportion lugs with very strong hallmarks to the side and under the lug that are very easily seen. The case has also developed a very nice patina. The dial is equally as attractive rendering this watch a splendid example of one of the most classic references Patek Philippe ever made.
