To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Nautilus, Patek Philippe unveiled the reference 5980 at Baselworld in 2006, marking the first time the model featured a chronograph complication. To maintain a clean, streamlined dial, Patek combined all the chronograph functions into a single co-axial subdial displaying elapsed minutes and hours—a unique design choice shared with the annual calendar reference 5960, which uses the same caliber. This bold approach to time display was a significant departure from the brand's more traditional offerings. The present version, made in pink gold, features a 40.5mm case and a matching pink gold bracelet.
Discontinued earlier this year across all iterations, the 5980 has become even more rare and collectible, further elevating its desirability among enthusiasts. We are pleased to offer this lot with its full suite of accessories.
