Ferdinand Adolph Lange founded A. Lange & Söhne in 1845, establishing a fine watchmaking tradition in Glashütte that has rivaled Swiss competitors ever since. The brand faced significant challenges, including the destruction of its factory in 1945 and its disappearance during the Soviet occupation in 1948. However, the spirit of Lange endured. In 1990, great-grandson Walter Lange revived the brand, restoring it as a leader in haute horology known for intricate pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie, tourbillons, and other complications.
In 1996, Walter Lange introduced the 1815 collection, named after Ferdinand's birth year, to honor his legacy. The 1815 Flyback Chronograph, produced from 2004 to 2008, marked the first chronograph wristwatch outside the Datograph family. Unlike the Datograph, it features a flyback complication and omits the date display. A pulsation scale adds a touch of asymmetry to the clean, concise dial. Crafted in 18k pink gold with a black dial and silver sub-dials, it houses the renowned caliber 951 flyback chronograph movement, celebrated for its precision and innovation. Complete with its full suite of accessories, this timepiece offers a rare chance to own a piece of horological history.
