This plique-à-jour enamel is a remarkable example of the work of André Fernand Thesmar. Its realization is a true technical feat, requiring great delicacy for the application of gold cloisonné enamels. Through the stylization of its oriental floral pattern and the color and transparency of the enamel, this work testifies to the inventiveness of the artist, who was able to renew the art of enamel at the end of the 19th century. Although dated 1903, the design of our cup dates back to 1897, when the design of the model is published in La Revue de l'Art Ancien et Moderne.
