Description
the first, rectangular, the lid centred with an oval split-pearl framed enamel plaque painted with a flower bouquet, on engine-turned gold ground, within outer blue enamel foliate border decorated with turquoise cabochons, the sides and base similarly decorated, maker's mark O in a horizontal lozenge, probably for a member of the Oltramare family, French departmental petite garantie 1809-1815, 2.9 cm., 1 1/8 in. wide;
the second, oval, the lid centred with an en grisaille enamel plaque painted with an allegory of friendship, within a chased husk frame, surrounded by translucent orange enamel over wavy engine-turning, framed by an interlaced scrolling leaf and laurel border on opaque white enamel, the sides similarly decorated below a chased border of alternating flowerheads and scrolls, maker's mark, petite vache mark for export 1768-1774, later export marks, the left rim numbered: 136, 6.5 cm, 2 1/2 in. wide
