circular, the hinged lid centred with an enamel portrait miniature of a lady in a purple dress with a pale blue headband in her grey hair, crowned with a diamond-set ribbon, on a translucent dark blue enamel ground over engine-turning, small jewelled thumbpiece, the sides and base decorated in dark blue enamel over engine-turning, flanked by floral opaque enamel borders overlaid with a chased gold band, the sides further hung with two-coloured gold swags, French prestige marks including rubbed maker’s mark
