rectangular, the lid inset with an earlier oval portrait miniature of Elisa Bonaparte, Grand Duchess of Tuscany, painted on enamel, wearing a saffron-coloured dress tied with a dark purple belt fastened with a classical cameo portrait, signed centre right: Counis, for Salomon Guillaume Counis, Geneva, within stamped gold frame, surrounded by richly chased foliage on a sablé ground, under glass, within dark blue enamel frame, the plain tortoiseshell box applied with a small gold thumbpiece and lined in gold, maker’s mark, Paris 3ème titre 1809-1819, Paris grosse garantie 1809-1819
