This piece is an extraordinary example of the Patek Philippe reference 5050 that was the brand’s first retrograde perpetual calendar made in series, and the first perpetual calendar since the legendary 2497 and 2438 to feature center sweep seconds.
Launched in yellow gold in 1993, it remained in production until 2002 whilst also being offered in pink, white gold, as well as in platinum.
Thanks to its carefully thought dial layout and its Calatrava style case, it is particularly appreciated by discerning collectors.
This reference 5050 features the '-24' dial code, which stands for applied gold Breguet indexes, with matching hands, over black.
These extremely rare pieces are considered as the ultimate version of the model with only a very few identified on the international market.
Only some mega collectors, personally known by Mr. Stern, could have the immense privilege of ordering one of these.
Not only these watches are extremely rare and exclusive, but they are also regarded as one of the most beautiful perpetual calendars of the last 30 years.
This present lot is a unique opportunity to acquire the best iteration of the 5050, a model that is becoming more and more difficult to source and almost impossible to find in this configuration.
It is further accompanied by its original accessories, including its certificate of origin and second case back, making it the perfect example for the demanding collector.
