Launched in 2015, Richard Mille's Reference RM030 Ti boasts the design house’s technical prowess with its iconic Calibre RMAR1, a skeletonized automatic-winding movement with hours, minutes, seconds, date, winding indicator, power-reserve indicator, and declutchable variable-geometry rotor. All this is visible through the skeletonized dial showing luminous hands and markers and the curved sapphire crystals on each side. An extraordinary technical innovation closely linked to the house’s passion for automotive mechanics, the declutching rotor system takes inspiration from the torque sensor already applied in RM tourbillon watches, combining automatic clutching and declutching control of the winding system with a torque sensor to ensure the ideal degree of spring tension for the perfect supply of torque to the movement. The rotor operates seamlessly, automatically declutching and disengaging from the barrel winding process when the power reserve reaches 50 hours, while also automatically clutching when the power reserve drops to 40 hours and initiating winding until the indicator returns to 50 hours. Encased in the brand’s characteristic tonneau-shaped 42 mm x 50 mm x 14 mm Grade 5 titanium case, the present watch represents an extraordinary technological advancement in the field of watchmaking.
