Looking back on 20th Century Auto racing, there is one name which appears nearly everywhere – Heuer. Much of that is owed to Jo Siffert – who famously paid his way through racing by selling Heuer watches in the pit lanes to his fellow racing drivers. Siffert’s own choice?, a Heuer Autavia in a cushion case with a unique panda dial featuring blue accents. While Siffert’s own watch was an automatic version, the example presented here features a manually winding three register Valjoux based caliber. Mated to a rare and period correct Heuer ‘Beads of Rice’ bracelet, this watch screams almost as loudly as Siffert’s F1 car.
