While many know Jaeger-LeCoultre as ‘The Watchmaker's Watchmaker,’ they also have a robust and storied history with sports watches: quite famously, the Deep Sea Alarm. The Deep Sea Alarm featured an unlikely marriage between JLC’s Memovox Alarm movement and the highly waterproof Super Compressor case. Those original models were very costly and bought by serious divers who needed a more tactile alarm to warn them when their oxygen was running out. The present example was produced in a limited series of just 959 examples (in homage to the original watch was known as the reference E959) and pays tribute in a 1 for 1 form of that original Deep Sea Alarm.
