Richard Daners (1927-2018)
Richard Daners was a master watchmaker and project manager for Gübelin. He is credited with making the present lot, as well as a modern concept of the Bras-en-L’air, of which he made three. Daners small series of Astrolabium watches, included No. 1 with double dials. No. 1 was one of two pieces with the latitude for Lucerne 1983, which was previously sold at Sotheby’s Geneva on May 20, 1997, lot 59. It should be noted that the present watch was made in only a handful of examples.
