In the early 2000s, Rolex introduced a selection of vibrant hard stone dials for their Daytona collection, adding a playful twist to their renowned and timeless line of chronographs. These dials came in various colors, including blue, pink, yellow, and the current green, which is crafted from chrysoprase —a rare gemstone known for its shades of light to deep green. The production of dials using this delicate material presents a challenge, as even the slightest margin of error can result in fractures. However, Rolex's exceptional craftsmanship achieved absolute precision in creating these dials.

A fashion statement and collector's item alike, these models have gained huge popularity recently and are among the most sought-after models of the 1165 series. The green version rarely appears at auction and is a collector's favourite as it combines a stone dial, which is highly praised by enthusiasts and the green colour that is very closely associated to the crowned brand.
