Description

Of openwork design, with twelve lozenge-shaped links applied with blue and white piqué enamel, centering cushion-cut diamonds, alternating with closed back collet-set gemstones including onyx, opal, garnet and amethyst, length approximately 180mm, maker's mark.

Geoffrey Munn, Castellani and Giuliano, Revivalist Jewellers of the Nineteenth Century, 1984, p.125 for a bracelet of similar design.

David Bennett, Daniela Mascetti, Understanding Jewellery, 1989, page 254, for a bracelet of similar design.

Like the bracelet included on p.125 of Geoffrey Munn's book, this bracelet includes gemstones which are mentioned in the Book of Revelation, chapter 21, verses 19-12. This passage reflects a deeper symbolic meaning inspired by the biblical description of the New Jerusalem's foundation. In Revelation 21, John the Apostle gives a vivid vision of the celestial city, emphasizing its divine beauty and richness. The twelve foundations of the city's walls are adorned with twelve precious stones, each representing a different foundation and corresponding to one of the twelve apostles.
