Named after former Yankee Jason Giambi, Dominguez has had lofty expectations since birth and still continues to impress. A proper five-tool player, he has long been seen as the next great Yankee prospect and possibly the missing piece of a core that is seeking to end what is, at the time of cataloging, the Yankees’ longest streak without a pennant since World War I.

The card commemorates Jasson’s first year as a professional player in the Yankees farm system. The top ranked signing in the 2019 international class, Dominguez earned the nickname “The Martian” for his otherworldly combination of power, speed, and defensive acumen. The certerfielder’s talent was so apparent that the bidding war for his rights resulted in the Yankees assigning a franchise-high $5.1M signing bonus to the then-sixteen year old.

“JDom” made his major league debut against the Houston Astros on September 1, 2023 and did so with a bang. Batting fifth, Dominguez showcased his imposing power immediately by taking future Hall of Famer Justin Verlander deep to the left field seats on his first swing. As Yankees play-by-play man Michael Kay declared: “The Martian has landed here in Houston.” The moment didn’t end there as, in that brief first run in the majors, Dominguez became the youngest MLB player to hit a home run in four of his first seven games in the modern era.

One of the most significant card sets currently in production, Bowman’s history in the hobby is nothing short of legendary. A timeless brand, Bowman was founded in 1948 and came to prominence in 1951 with its Mickey Mantle rookie card that stands today as one of the most substantial prints in card history. In the modern day, Bowman and Bowman Chrome, the latter introduced in 1997, have been among the first stops in a baseball player’s card journey from the time they are a prospect and project out to stardom, with the “Bowman 1st Chrome” recognized as the ultimate prospect card in the modern hobby.

Since printing in the 2020 Bowman set, Jasson Dominguez has been one of the most prominent faces of the hobby for Yankee collectors. His 1-of-1 Superfractor autograph made waves when it sold for nearly $500k in 2022 after he had only debuted in the minor leagues some months earlier. The red refractor autograph shown here, one of the most desirable parallels in the set, is limited in print run to just five. This copy is marked “1/5” on the front to denote that this was the first such parallel to be stamped in the run.

This card has been authenticated and deemed to be in Gem Mint condition, receiving a grade of 9.5 from Beckett Grading Services (BGS). The autograph was graded and received a 10 from BGS.

The BGS certificate number for this card is: 0012388426.
