Original illustration for Shirley by Charlotte Brontë, depicting Caroline and Mademoiselle Moore sewing together. This illustration comes from Dulac's first commission, at just twenty-two years old, from J. M. Dent to produce 60 illustrations for a new edition of the complete novels of the Brontë sisters
