Obsidian Zero is an experimental art project by OG ordinals artist Billy Restey. After sifting through over $7B worth of Bitcoin over 7 months Billy finally sequestered a Black Rare and decided to push the limits of the protocol with it–inscribing a perpetual loop on the eternal chain. Billy started inscribing his art in February 2023 (sub 10k inscriptions) and has continued to push the boundaries ever since––dropping several collections garnering millions in secondary sales while curating thousands of holders. He believes in the long-term value proposition of ordinals and rare sats and thinks we are entering a new Bitcoin renaissance.

A black rare is the last satoshi mined before a difficulty adjustment event. Out of thousands of bitcoins (each having 100m satoshis) that are minted between two difficulty adjustment events, only one is a Black Rare satoshi. Totaling just 412 in existence and even less in circulation, black rares are among a collector’s finest pieces.
