binding: Parisian inlaid binding possibly by Wotton Binder C for Marcus Fugger, ca 1550, olive brown morocco with an inlay of interlaced strapwork in tan morocco outlined with gilt fillets in central panel, border inlay and oval central inlay in black morocco, gilt pointillé ground surrounding central oval in interstices of strapwork inlay, open gilt leaf at corners enameled black, flat spine, 3 false bands of gilt arabesques between thin black enameled bands, in 2 compartments large gilt rose surrounded by 4 leafy tools enameled black on tendrils, edges plain gilt, in a black morocco box with plexiglass window.
