DIONYSIUS CARTHUSIANUS. D. Dionysii Carthusiani liber utilissimus de quatuor hominis novissimis, nempe I. Morte. II. Iudicio. III. Inferni poenis. IIII. Gaudis coeli. Eiusdem colloquium de particulari iudicio animarum. Cologne: Bernhard Walter, 1602
A binding made for a member of the Torres family, originally from Spain but subsequently established in Rome and Naples. Earlier members of the family were notable book owners, particularly Luis de Torres (1495-1553) and Fernando de Torres (1521-1590), who both held high office in the Vatican; see Bibliotheca Brookeriana I, 11 October 2023, lots 77 and 8. A possible owner of the present volume could be Cosimo de Torres (1584-1642), who became a cardinal in 1622.
