This finely cast and animated gilt bronze depicts Yama riding his buffalo mount in a Himalayan setting, appearing as one the Guardians of the Ten Directions. The statue is part of a dispersed fifty-one deity three-dimensional mandala of Bhaishajyaguru, such as the Qing period set of copper alloy statues in the State Hermitage, Leningrad, see Marylin M. Rhie and Robert A. F. Thurman, Wisdom and Compassion: The Sacred Art of Tibet, Thames and Hudson, 1991, pp. 338-40, cat no. 134.

此尊銅鎏金造像為閻摩與其水牛坐騎，背景為喜馬拉雅山脈，鑄造精美，生動活潑。閻摩為十方位護法之一。此像原屬一組藥師佛曼荼羅塔五十一尊佛像中之一。可參考一件清代相似之合金銅佛像組，藏於列寧格勒國立艾爾米塔什博物館，參閱Marylin M. Rhie與Robert A. F. Thurman所著《智慧與慈悲：西藏聖藝》，Thames and Hudson出版，1991年，頁338-340，編號134。
