Maroon Bells is widely known as a plate included in Ansel Adams’ Portfolio VI, published in 1974 in an edition of 110. While portfolio prints of this highly sought-after image have appeared at auction with some frequency, an example made outside of the portfolio edition, such as the present photograph, is rare. The photograph offered here is believed to be the first non-portfolio print to appear at auction.
