An Egyptian Limestone Sculptor's Model

Ptolemaic Period, 304-30 B.C.


carved in shallow relief on one side with a falcon, sacred to the god Horus, striding with head erect, the elaborate eye markings finely engraved, and on the other side with the lower part of the head of a king, a demotic inscription inked across the neck, another shorter one below the chin.

Height 15.1 cm.

private collection, Belgium, acquired prior to 1980
