Sapphire and diamond pendent necklace, circa 1910


Collet-set with a sugarloaf cabochon sapphire within a frame of circular-cut diamonds, supported from a bow-shaped surmount millegrain-set with circular-cut diamonds, on a cable-link chain, length approximately 600mm.


Accompanied by SSEF report no. 131268, stating that the sapphire is of Ceylon origin, with no indications of heating.

Princess Eudoxia of Bulgaria (1898-1985)

This pendant belonged to Princess Eleonore of Reuss-Köstritz, Tsarina of Bulgaria (1860-1917), the second wife of Ferdinand I of Bulgaria. She left the jewel to her step-daughter Princess Eudoxia of Bulgaria (1898-1985). It can be recognised on several portrait photos of Eleonore of Reuss-Köstritz.
