A Louis XVI gilt-bronze mounted Sèvres soft-paste porcelain ‘Vase a Monter’, attributed to Pierre Gouthière, probably commissioned by Dominique Daguerre, circa 1785
the vase with a leaf-ornamented neck, the handles in the form of seated fauns blowing trumpets above draped ribbon-tied garlands, on a husk-cast square base
28cm. high, 14cm. wide; 11in., 5½in.
thence by descent to his grand-daughter and heir Mary Constance "Molly" Boynton (d.1890-1974), who married Philip Lloyd-Greame (who took the name Cunliffe-Lister), later 1st Earl of Swinton, and by descent to the Trustees of the Lord Swinton Will Trust.
