A late Louis XV gilt-bronze mounted Sèvres green porcelain pot-pourri vase and cover, circa 1765-70


the mounts attributed to Jean Dulac, the cover fitted with conforming foliate-cast ormolu mount and surmounted by a finial, the vase mounted with a pierced guilloche frieze and satyr masks connected with heavy laurel swags, supported by an ormolu ribbon-tied fascia-mounted fluted stem raised on a square base


29cm. high, 23cm. wide; 11½in., 9in.

Acquired by Samuel Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Baron Masham of Swinton (1815-1906), circa 1890 for Swinton Park, North Yorkshire;

thence by descent to his grand-daughter and heir Mary Constance "Molly" Boynton (d.1890-1974), who married Philip Lloyd-Greame (who took the name Cunliffe-Lister), later 1st Earl of Swinton, and by descent to the Trustees of the Lord Swinton Will Trust.
