Charles Prendergast's panels draw inspiration from folk art, Art Nouveau style, Japanese woodblock prints and Medieval illuminated manuscripts. His use of color, pattern, incised lines and gold leaf creates depth and texture that render the flat work nearly sculptural. This is emphasized further by the original, three-dimensional artist's frame.
