Description

Very Fine Pair of Chippendale Cast-Bell Metal and Wrought-Iron Andirons with Accompanying Matching Fire Tools

New York

Circa 1800

Height 23 1/2 in. by Width 12 1/4 in. by Depth 20 3/4 in.

This pair of andirons survives with its original set of matching shovel and tongs fire tools. The log stops are of an identical pattern.  The andirons are made of bell metal, a brass with a high level of copper which creates a pinkish tone to the metal. They are unusually tall and in untouched condition.
