Ganesha, the elephant-headed Hindu deity, is worshipped as the god of auspicious beginnings and the remover of obstacles. He is the son of Shiva, or Nataraja (Lord of the Cosmic Dance). Ganesha is depicted here in tribhanga pose, with his hips and head slightly angled and his trunk curling to the left suggesting that he is dancing, echoing his father’s dancing form.
