The Nike Dunk Low Pro SB ‘Freddy Krueger’ is one of the most iconic and well-known SB Dunks that never made it to public release. Even though the style was slated to release in 2007, alongside the ‘Jason Voorhees’ Nike Dunk High and ‘Dawn of the Dead’ Nike Air Trainer One as a ‘Horror Pack’, they were never officially brought to market.

In this model, Nike paid tribute to the villain crucial to the Nightmare on Elm Street film franchise. Noticeable details include Freddy Krueger’s striped sweater pattern throughout the base of the sneaker with blood splatters on the overlays. The Swoosh itself pays tribute to the blades on Freddy’s leather gloves.

This pair in particular is a prototype, made before the final production batch of the sneakers. Unlike the final design, this pair features black splatter instead of red blood as well as a suede upper instead of the leather found on other samples.

The sneaker itself was never released to the public due to rumored legal issues, and as such it would become one of the most legendary stories in Nike SB’s history. Once the project was scrapped, it is said that Nike decided to destroy the sneakers. Only a small number of Dunks made it out into the hands of dedicated collectors.
