From the Duques de Tamames Collection

A Spanish officer’s sword, dated 1847


with tapering blade of flattened-hexagonal section, etched with a running pattern of foliage, the forte inscribed 'Arta Fca de Toledo' on one face and with the date on the other, silver-nickel hilt comprising sheet guard drawn-up to form the knuckle-guard the borders engraved with strapwork and foliage on each side and the outer face with the crowned Royal Arms, a pair of quillons with fleur-de-lys on each terminal face and on the quillon-block, pommel engraved with the royal arms on the front, swelling grip bound with plaited wire and ribband, in its steel scabbard, with two rings for suspension

This sword appears to be based on the same design as the later Spanish model of 1848 for halberdiers.
