Jimmy Page owned and worn crushed velvet trousers from the 1969 tour

Men’s purple velvet trousers, marked 32 in ink inside the waist next to the Alkasura Clothing label; minor wear and some light fading. 

Boutique clothier Alkasura was founded in 1967 by Paul Reeves and John Lloyd. In 1969 the partners split, with Reeves establishing the shop Universal Witness (1969-1973) on Fulham Road, while Lloyd moved into 304 Kings Road, Chelsea. Alkasura attracted a very fashion-forward Rock clientele, including Rod Stewart, Marc Bolan and Page. Clothing from Alkasure, like articles from other 60’s designers such as Granny Takes a Trip are now highly collectible fashion, with Bolan’s Elephant jacket by the former being quite iconic.

With a letter of provenance from a fan, who after attending the band’s 2 November, 1969 show at the O’Keefe Center in Toronto with her sister, was invited with her friends to the Royal York Hotel to ‘hang out.” After discussing the their mutual interest in the tarot and having her palm read, Page offered her the choice of clothing as memento of their encounter. She choose the present pair, as she had “never seen anything quite them here in Canada.”
