Description

Guns N’ Roses

Appetite for Destruction. Geffen Records, 1987

LP in the original uncensored record sleeve (catalogue number XXG 24148 on the spine), signed by Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin, and signed twice by Steven Adler (once on the front cover and once on the rear cover, the latter dated “89”), original printed inner sleeve with catalogue number GHS 24148, without the embossed “A” on the side labels, sticker from James Spence Authentication to the front cover; lacking the sticker insert, sleeve with mild creasing and some edgewear, inner sleeve partially split along edges. [With:] A signed letter of authenticity from James Spence Authentication.

A first pressing of Appetite for Destruction, signed by the band. Though Guns N’ Roses debut album received little attention immediately upon release, it achieved astronomical success the following year: peaking at number one on the Billboard 200, becoming the seventh best-selling album of all time in the United States, and even further, becoming the best-selling debut album. The record features a number of Guns N’ Roses greatest songs, including “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Paradise City,” and “Sweet Child o’ Mine.” The cover art, as seen on the present copy, immediately caused controversy, with record stores refusing to stock the album. The cover art was quickly changed to the more commonly seen Celtic cross illustration, with the original image being moved to the liner notes. A watershed release, the record is now one of the best-selling albums of all time.

The present copy is the variant of the first pressing with the second catalogue number on the inner sleeve.
