Ponte City is a skyscraper in the Berea suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. Originally intended as luxury condos it fell into disrepair. After years of neglect, developers evicted half of the building’s tenants.

Photographers Mikhael Subotzky and Patrick Waterhouse embarked on an ambitious project to document the building, including operating improvised photography studios in the building’s elevators.
