Two Barcelona FC Game Used and Signed Goal Balls

In collaboration with Gol Ball, the official partner of La Liga, Sotheby's is delighted to present two exceptional footballs from Barcelona Football Club's triumphant 2023 Spanish La Liga campaign.

The first ball in this exclusive offering had been used during Barcelona's crucial encounter with RCD Espanyol on May 14th. This match played a pivotal role in the Catalan club's pursuit of domestic glory, which had eluded them since the 2018-2019 season. In a match played away from home, Barcelona clinched a resounding 4-2 victory, with Polish talisman Robert Lewandowski contributing two goals, ultimately securing his position as the league's top scorer with 23 goals that season. This particular ball is adorned with the signature of Robert Lewandowski.

The second ball presented in this collection comes directly from one of the most significant derbies in global sport—the high-stakes El Clasico match which took place between Barcelona and Real Madrid at Camp Nou on March 19, 2023. In a thrilling encounter that saw an early goal from Real Madrid and an equalizer from Barcelona just before halftime, the match showcased exceptional skills from both teams. Then, two minutes into injury time Franck Kessie, assisted by Alejandro Balde, scored the decisive goal, securing a momentous victory for Barcelona and establishing a 12-point lead at the top of the La Liga table. This ball is autographed by Franck Kessie, commemorating the pivotal role he played in this historic win.
