unframed: 38.8 x 32 cm.; 15¼ x 12⅝ in.

framed: 53 x 45 cm.; 20⅞ x 17¾ in.

Presumably in the collection of the sitter’s father, Sir Moyses Hill of Hillsborough (d. 1630);

Thence by descent to his son, Rt Hon. Arthur Hill (c. 1601–1663);

Thence by descent to his son, Rt Hon. William Hill (d. 1692/3);

Thence by descent to his son, Rt Hon. Michael Hill (1672–1699);

Thence by descent to his son, Trevor Hill, 1st Viscount Hilllsborough (1693–1742);
