When offered at auction in 2006 the attribution of this lot was endorsed by Jan de Maere, who inspected the painting first-hand.
La Fabrique is an artist about whom little is known. He studied under André Bouge in Naumur and later traveled to Rome and Paris. He settled in Liège around 1695, where he remained until his death.
