This work closely follows a design exhibited at Galerie Charpentier, Paris, in 1953, first ascribed by Rodolfo Pallucchini to the obscure painter Pantaeleon.1 In his seminal article about this artist, Pallucchini was the first to recognize a small group of panels of corresponding subject and compositions attributable to this painter, centered around a signed and dated work in a private collection, Paris.
