Description

Two Central European Baroque gilt brass horizontal table clocks, early 18th century


one example an Austrian gilt brass octagonal quarter striking horizontal table clock with alarm, early 18th century


the 15 cm silvered chapter ring calibrated with quarter hours on the inner edge and with five minute intervals on the outer edge, concentric alarm disk, four-train movement signed Dionisi Carl-Crembs, on an engraved ribbon, ringed pillars, fusee and chain for the going train, standing barrels for the other trains, verge and balance escapement with engraved and pierced cock, outside numbered count wheel, the case with leaf border around the dial, glazed panels on each side with flower spandrels and raised on alternate acorn and paw feet, three bells mounted in the hinged base


the second example a German Baroque gilt and silvered brass square horizontal repeating table clock, early 18th century


the 9,5 cm silvered chapter ring calibrated for hours and minutes, set on an engraved gilt surround, the movement with fusee and chain for the going train and engraved standing barrel for the strike, signed Johann Christoph Heyn, Sprottau, with verge and balance escapement and engraved silvered cock, the backplate mounted with a regulation dial, a Night/Day dial and applied with pierced and engraved gilt mask, grotesque head hammer, the case with glazed panels within silvered frames on all sides and raised on winged paw feet, the bell mounted in the hinged base


Austrian clock: 11cm high, 18cm diameter

German clock: 10cm high, 12,.5 x 12.5 cm
