Friederike Sophie Wilhelmine from the House of Hohenzollern was born in 1751 to Prince Augustus William of Prussia and Duchess Luise of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. In 1767, at the age of 16, Wilhelmine married William V of Orange. With this marriage, the powerful and politically ambitious Wilhelmina became Princess consort, a position she held for several decades.
