The artist.

This piece aims to discuss and expand on the potential of coding as the basis for creating algorithmic systems for artmaking. Instead of putting out there this algorithmic artwork as a series of generative editions, I've decided to maintain the unity of the algorithm and showcase how a 1/1 piece can hold all these almost infinite artistic variations.

Just click on the animation to get a new variation. You can also refresh your web browser to get even more variations. What happens when a 1/1 is infinite? And when the odds of someone else showcasing the same variation of the piece as you are very slim?

In Frieder Nake's words: "[The digital artist] ... is thinking of entire sets of infinities of works, and the invidiual work in an infinity is not interesting, is just one out of a large series."

Carlos Marcial is a Mexico City-born Puerto Rican digital artist who has been involved in crypto art since 2019.

Before becoming one of the first full-time crypto artists in early 2020, Marcial helped found and creatively direct a studio in Toronto, Canada that specialized in design services for blockchain projects and companies. It was at this studio that he first discovered NFTs.

Marcial is currently expanding his artistic practice into algorithmic and generative art. His art likes to discourse about the relationship that digital art has with tech, crypto, and Art History, all from a Latin American and Caribbean perspective.
