Sir Ivan Magill and thence by family descent to the present owner

Sir Ivan Whiteside Magill KCVO was born in Northern Ireland and graduated from Queen's University Belfast in 1913. He played a critical role in much of the innovation and development in modern anaesthesia. He helped to establish the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland. He built a collection of Irish Art, including the present Paul Henry, a typically evocative work depicting billowing clouds passing over mountainous peatland.
