This characterful portrait of a man finds stylistic comparison to portraits carved by Orazio Marinali (Vicenzo 1634-1720); the open mouth and eyes, deep drilled holes in the hair, and prominent headdress relate closely to two portraits of Democrito and Eraclito by Marinali's hand in the Museo Civico, Padua (inv. nos. 140 and 141).
