Moja was particularly adept at producing dramatic depictions of architectural views. Here he utilizes an oblique perspective to offer a glimpse of Piazza San Marco, the urban center of Venice. Flanking the composition are two of the city's most important structures: at left, the Doge's Palace and at right, the Basilica of San Marco.
