This elegant sitter, once thought to be Gabrielle d'Estrées, the duchess de Beaufort and mistress of King Henri IV of France, wears refined courtly attire. In a somber black dress with an elaborate lace ruff, she is further adorned with pearl jewelry and hair accessories, underscoring her wealth and social status.
