This small canvas of four children with a dog and a cat is one of several known copies of a painting dated 1668 by Caspar Netscher (formerly in the Rothschild collection, present whereabouts unknown).1  It has been proposed that the original was a portrait of the artist's own four children, although this identification cannot be proven.
