Fernand Toussaint studied with Jean-François Portaëls at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and was a prolific painter across various genres, including fashionable portraits of elegantly-dressed women. Waiting patiently in the hopes of venturing out, this young woman is ready to step outside on a warm day, outfitted with a parasol, white gloves, blue bow, and matching hat.
